Britney Spears told all of her Instagram followers what a big fan of Tim Burton’s movies she is. Burton directed classics like Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edwards Scissorhands, Ed Wood and the first two Batman movies. However, it was a 2014 biopic that Spears watched for the first time, and it may inspire her to take control of her career back.
Spears shared the post on Aug. 8 with a photo that ties in with Big Eyes. Here’s what the film meant to her and how it relates to her career.
This Tim Burton movie could be the Britney Spears story
Big Eyes is about painter Margaret Keene (Amy Adams), known for giving her subjects large eyes. The film portrays her abusive relationship with Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), who took credit for all of her work.
“I watched the movie Big Eyes the other day by of course my favorite director in the whole world @timburton !!!” Spears wrote. “It’s about a fragile yet adorable eccentric woman who has problems with men yet she’s an extraordinary artist who paints children with big eyes 👀👀👀 !!! She obviously paints them for the love of her daughter …”
Spears’s father, James, has been overseeing her career in a court ordered conservatorship since 2008. Could it be spears related to Keane’s struggle to reclaim her art?
“The troubled man she is seeing loves the fame and handles it better so he takes all her glory and says it’s him doing all the work,” Spears continued. “In the end she gets fed up and reclaims her art proving it is her that is indeed the artist 🎨👩🎨⭐️ !!! She leaves him never to remarry and takes care of her daughter 💕👯♀️ !!!!”
Britney Spears learned this from the Tim Burton movie
Spears has been a role model since she was a Mousketeer and became a rock star as a teenager. Fans followed her to movies like Crossroads, judging TV’s The X-Factor and her Las Vegas residency. Spears’ takeaway from Big Eyes would be good advice in any situation. She’s certainly had her share of volatile relationships and career lows. So, whether about her conservatorship or not, it sounds like Spears is moving in a positive direection.
“If the power of what you see and hear can influence your life THAT much … I mean literally stay away from bad people and raise your awareness with high energy people,” Spears wrote. “That’s what I learned from this … and watch Big Eyes while you’re at it !!!”
Coincidentally, she took a live-action ‘Big Eyes’ picture too
Spears did a photo shoot the day she discovered Big Eyes, though didn’t specify if she watched the film before or after the shoot. She did manage to capture the Margaret Keane look just with the angle of the camera.
“It was very weird the same day I watched this movie I did a mini photoshoot and look how freaking big my eyes were,” Spears said. “I mean … my eyes have never been that big !!! It’s actually kinda crazy and they aren’t retouched at all … coincidence maybe ???”
